Polish jeweler Kasia Piechocka auspiciously launched her
self-titled luxury jewelry brand just one short year ago.
Although the brand is still growing, the
graduate of London’s Central Saint
Martins is eager to make a positive difference in the world, as well as
settle the score that those in the fashion industry don’t just jump on a
charity bandwagon because it is en vogue.
“I wanted to do
something good for society. Instead of liking a Facebook page, guys and girls
can enter the giveaway by donating (as much or as little as they want) to the London-based
children’s charity Barnardos.
Once we
have managed to collectively raise £450 ($726 US Dollars), I’ll be giving away
£150 ($195 US Dollars) worth of Kasia Piechocka Jewellery!
This message of
togetherness and giving something back is something I really want to ingrain
into my brand’s ethos and I really want this to be an example of how fashion
brands (no matter how small!) can be a force for good.
I, for one, disagree
with this blanket assumption that the art and fashion world “ride” the charity
and eco boat because it is cool. I would
like to think that people who enter this donation-giveaway are making a
statement in the defense of those in my industry who truly want to give
something back.”
