The Venezuelan city Porlamar is the island of Margarita’s largest.

Due to its size and natural beauty, Porlamar is a hot spot replete with a vigorous nightlife, great cuisine, and even museums for the studious type.

Venezuela is also the ancestral home of featured jewelry designer Beatrice Ponce.

The Miami-based designer’s brand encapsulates a number of styles that include wire work; daring statement necklaces; and the spiritual overtones of gemstone composed rosary necklaces. 

The eclectic range is due, in part, to Ponce’s vision of producing jewelry for teen girls as well as women.  The rosary designs, though traditional in style, are unique in their gorgeous color combinations.

After completing design school in Venezuela, Ponce developed a “girls’ line as a hobby” for which her daughter became a fan, as well as her daughter’s friends.  Ponce would subsequently expand the brand that included a bolder line for women and complex wire jewelry.  “The word of mouth” buzz and contacts would help the fledgling business become an international sensation.

“I grew up in an international environment.  I traveled and moved a lot to different countries with my parents.  I was exposed to different arts, customs, and traditions and that inspired my designs,” says the jewelry maker.

Along with an eclectic style, Ponce’s assortment of gemstone rings, gemstone necklaces, and gemstone beaded bracelets are also affordable.  The bracelet designs from her Girls Petite collection start as low as $12 (Hammered Sterling Silver Heart Bracelet) and up to $210 for her quartz and Swarovski garnets bracelet.

“After being in the market for 14 years I never imagined my jewelry in boutiques from New York City to Spain.  I recently launched my website in the hopes of giving a lot more women the chance to acquire pieces.”
