KELLY CIMBER | CIMBER DESIGNS

14K Gold Filled Paragon Necklace with Druzy
Rectangle and Pyrite Chain
The closely packed sand of Daytona Beach, Florida is what sets its shorelines apart from others.

Its unique sands allow for motorsports activities, where there are designated areas, which draw the interest of many.

Daytona Beach also provides many water activities including deep sea fishing and kayaking.  Florida is also home to featured jewelry designer Kelly Cimber.

While perusing the Instagram feeds of several well-known designer jewelry brands, I saw a photo of a model wearing five, simple, layered pendant necklaces.  Curious, I priced the baubles at one of the brand’s retailers to discover the model was wearing over $18,000 worth of jewelry!

Categorized as bridge jewelry, as it falls between high-end fine jewelry and costume designs, Cimber’s price points start at $35 for her Pyrite Fillers Bracelet to $220 for her Mykonos Necklace with Large Quartz Stalactite.

Fourteen karat gold-filled chains, sterling silver and 14-karat gold vermeil serve as accents to show-stopping, unaltered druzy and semi-precious gemstones the druses of which resemble sparkly colored ice.  Needless to say there is nothing like getting great style for a great price.

In her hometown of Connecticut, during high school the former Coast Guard Lieutenant learned a number of handicrafts including sculpture and metalsmithing.  Confident in her ease at design she submitted a metal sculpture for an award at the Connecticut State Art Fair and won.

After starting a career with the Miami Coast Guard, as a way to balance the demands of her work, Cimber made jewelry part-time; striving to create “fashion forward” pieces that reflect the vivid colors of Miami.

As a matter of fact Cimber is fantastic with color combinations perfectly complementing the brown hues of geode slices with tiger’s eye beads; or grey druses paired with the similar shades of labradorite beads.

Overall the designs are classically arranged with attention to the raw, natural beauty of geodes.  This jewelry is all about the convergence of small details: the gold or silver surrounding a stone; the type of chain; the shape and color of the stones.

Currently a full-time jewelry maker, Cimber relishes being able to follow a lifelong dream. “Each piece is handcrafted and the stones are all hand-selected for distinctive features and qualities.  I have always collected rocks so building designs around them is a natural extension.”

2015 Jewelry Trend AlertCimber excels at what I like to call pared down statement necklaces where dazzling geodes are the only focal point.

At the same time her arrowhead-cut druzy designs can be layered for a boho chic effect.
