ELVIRA SAZESH

Located in Iran, the city of Mashad is a location replete with cultural and architectural attractions.  Annually over 12 million Muslims make a pilgrimage to visit the Shrine of Imam Ali Reza.

Non-Muslims also travel to the city to see Tous Museum, a site known for “ancient Persian artifacts and modern Iranian art.”

Iran is also the birthplace of featured jewelry designer Elvira Sazesh.

There is a larger-than-life quality about statement jewelry.  This niche is like a voguish rebellion against the status quo; pushing the style envelope with its boldness and visual flair.

Iran born and London-based Sazesh’s strong and flirty jewelry of silk ropes, suede, leather and gold, pink and blue jump rings is a fun addition to the style rebellion.

Thick strips of colored leather build pom-pom-like tassel earrings; black silk ropes suspending tassels create a funky necklace; and plastic and glass charms dangling from red silk rope bracelets provide alternately chic and punk glamour. I love those contrasts.

Tassels are  not overbearing and the leather or suede strips of purple, red, orange or leopard prints are literal bursts of color.  Several black silk ropes combined in one design form a sleek multi-strand necklace that easily embodies couture style.

With a Bachelor of Arts degree in women’s wear received from the London College of Fashion, in 2004 the gifted jewelry designer accepted an internship with fashion label Burberry

After several years Sazesh wanted to try her hand at design and launched her daring fashion jewelry line in 2010.  She was eager to present a style that embodied zest and a sense of play.

“I draw inspiration from books, fashion, films, people and countries I have traveled to.  Each design is original, dramatic and fun.

Childhood heroines like Jem and the Holograms; the high glamour of the late 70s; and the wild fashion of the 80s impact my creations,” explains Sazesh who won second place in China’s International Student Fashion Design.

“The jewelry is handcrafted with the highest quality suede, leather, metal and plating.  I wanted to create a jewelry collection that makes women feel feminine and fabulous that would add color and creativity into their lives.  I wanted to give them a sense of fun and adventure.”
