After selling vintage jewelry in New York's East Village at age 10, by age 22 Alexis Bittar became interested in working with Lucite. His desire to treat "plastic like it was a precious metal" started a jewelry brand that turned an ordinary material into an unapologetic vision of full-on glamour.
