CATHERINE MARCHÉ

Sterling Silver Volutes Photo Etched Cuff Bracelet
Having once served as the location for the Olympic Winter Games ninety years ago, the French commune Chamonix-Mont Blanc still bustles with snowy skiing adventures.

At the center of it all is the Haute Route: a trajectory that leads to Swiss and Italian glaciers.

France is also the birthplace of featured jewelry designer Catherine Marché.

There is a creative restlessness evident in Marché’s jewelry collections.

Each collection is stylistically unique and reflects the jeweler’s exploration of different jewelry making techniques.

Styles shift from the chic, hammered hoops of her COCO Necklace to the photo etched floral patterns of her Volutes Collection.

The London-based jeweler, who initially embraced “a career in computer science,” enjoys “being able to mix new and antique techniques.”

Marché embarked on a career in jewelry making after studying the craft at Central St. Martins – University of the Arts London.

Her alternately sophisticated and whimsical creations of simple sterling silver stack rings, gemstone earrings, and wire work designs are purposeful choices that define her fine jewelry brand.

“I might sometimes be influenced by a piece of music or a poem.  Sometimes the gemstone will dictate a design.  I enjoy combining and contrasting colors and shapes.

Ultimately my creations emanate a hint of French playfulness, and they are quite versatile allowing the wearer to mix them and wear the same items in different occasions to create a different look,” says the working mom.

“I absolutely love the meaning jewelry has for the wearer.  Whatever its monetary value jewelry is precious to the heart.  To me being a part of something that touches people’s lives is invaluable.”

2014 Jewelry Trend AlertAlong with the style trend of muted hues, courtesy of freshwater pearls, black onyx and Botswana agate, Marché’s jewelry brand also includes her elegant Dotty Rings that highlight a single, small cabochon cut gemstone.

Marché likes to layer these rings for a subtle yet dramatic effect, a style that is on trend for the year.
