Flanked by two “guardian statues,” the temple’s interior contains small shrines, a tower, and a columned hall. India is also home to featured jewelry designer Arun Bohra.
When you are born into a family of acclaimed jewelers the next logical step is to become a jeweler. Right? Right.
With his family name a fixture in India's jewelry industry for nearly two hundred years, it was only a matter of time before the junior Bohra would continue the tradition as an eighth generation jewelry designer.
“My forefathers were commissioned to make pieces for the royal families of the various states and kingdoms of India,” he says. “Because solid relationships were forged with the royal families they continue to commission jewelry pieces to the family business and to my personal brand as well.”
Before launching his personal brand, Arunashi, with his wife Ashita in 2004 Bohra developed a business in Tokyo, Japan wherein he collected rare gemstones of “exceptional quality and beauty” including paraiba tourmalines, Burmese spinels and Alexandrite.
“I really enjoyed dealing in exotic stones. I loved the challenge of finding them but it lacked creativity,” he explains. “With my gem business intact and with a desire to be creative and original I went back to school.

I studied Jewelry Design and Manufacturing at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Carlsbad, California and graduated as a Graduate Jeweler.”
Working with splendid 18-and 22-karat yellow gold, oxidized 18-karat white gold and a stunning array of precious and semi-precious gemstones Bohra’s high-end designer jewelry adheres to classic outlines.
Timeless designs that include gold bangles, stackable rings, elegant gemstone pendants and gemstone rings are luscious in color with brushed finishes or hammered textures. The facets of such gemstones as lemon topaz, rose quartz, and grey moonstone highlight alternately checkerboard and cabochon cuts.
His gold necklaces are delicate chains with gemstones like fire opal set between chain links. Beautiful. There are also exquisite gold wrap rings the bands of which coil like vines and single gemstones protrude like pods from scalloped ends.
“My jewelry is deeply inspired by the Mughal era and the Art Nouveau period. The era is named after royalty and that has been a rich part of my heritage. Individual attention to each piece of the Arunashi collection is made with utmost care by our goldsmiths who share the same passion and pride of their culture.
