The city holds the largest department store in the world, the Shinsegae Centrum City; and Busan Lotte World Tower is one of many skyscrapers under construction to rival the stature of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa building.
Korea is also the ancestral home of featured jewelry designer Daisy Choi.
Poet Henry Wadsworth said it best: “In style, in all things,
the supreme excellence is simplicity.”
Likewise many jewelry designers believe understatement, not heavy-handedness, should be the goal of creating jewelry.

London-based Choi embraces simplicity of design while also
covering a lot of style territory. Items
from her Bridal and Bespoke collection
epitomize sleek and high gloss glamour.
Her gemstone cluster rings and the Key to Your Heart pendants are eternal charmers. The gritty edge of a bar ring is softened by
the inscription, “everyday is a good day;” and then there is the playful whimsy
of her Black Fur Cat brooch pin made
with real fur.
Educated at Middlesex
University and Camberwell College of
Art, Choi takes cues from “everyday objects” to form her classic yet
eclectic style.
“My work is based on the concept of wearing a thought. I worked for many years in graphic design and
I incorporate that knowledge in jewelry making,” says the award-winning
designer.
“I love the play of two or three dimensions. I make rings—the band and the setting—carved
from sterling silver, black rhodium or even rubber.

My egg designs feature openwork in three-dimensional scale. I blend artistic expression with wearability. I aspire to create playful yet meaningful and functional jewelry.”
