The two, quartz-carved towers of the Colossi of Memmon, located near Luxor, Egypt, are ominous

representations of the ancient pharaoh Amenhotep II.

According to legend when the morning sun’s rays dance across them, Amenhotep II’s voice can be heard calling for his mother.  

Egypt is also the ancestral home of featured jewelry designer Jacquie Aiche.
