Lastly, the Gallen Kallela Museum is the quintessential setting for the bookish type.  Finland is also the birthplace of featured jewelry designer Petri Kymlander.

Simple make-up applications—one coat of mascara and tinted lip gloss—can look just as great as more dramatic styles.  The effect is pared down yet pretty; subtle yet expressive.  The same can be said for jewelry.

Based in Rhode Island Kymlander’s creations of 18-karat white or yellow gold, sterling silver and breathtaking precious and semi-precious gemstones is what timeless, classic style is all about.

Pendant sliders, dangle earrings and rings highlight wavy surface textures courtesy of lovely gold leaf, openwork and the juxtaposition of multi-colored gemstones. 

Forms are reminiscent of pendulums, guillotines and suspension bridges.  Gemstones are luxurious and include blue opal, watermelon tourmaline, white diamonds, emeralds and black pearls.

 An alum of Finland’s Design Institute and the University of Helsinki the jeweler loves the spontaneity of handcrafting his designs.  Building creations by hand inherently fills each piece with character and personality.  In the same vein, Kymlander loves to create custom jewelry pieces as well.
